Visakhapatnam: THE Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ) has given approval to new IT units in Telangana.

The meeting held in virtual mode on Tuesday under the chairmanship of VSEZ Development Commissioner, A Rama Mohan Reddy, also gave its nod for units dealing with IT enabled services under the single window system as per the SEZ scheme besides procurement of duty free material worth few crores for the upcoming SEZs like Phoenix, Wipro and, Laxmi Infobahn. There are a total of 61 SEZs operational under VSEZ as on date with 523 operational units. The 4th UAC meeting of the VSEZ for the FY 2021-22, accorded approvals for setting up of new IT units namely Ominimed solutions Pvt Ltd., Spruce IT Pvt Ltd., Kyndryl Solutions Pvt Ltd., Pragmatic Play India Pvt Ltd., all to be set up in NSL SEZ (Hyd) Pvt Ltd., Divyasree NSL Infra Pvt ltd., SEZ and DLF Infocity Hyd Ltd., all located in Hyderabad. All the new units will provide IT services to their clients in the US and Canada especially in the field of hospital health care, digital transformation, data analytics, application developments with their headquarters located at Pennsylvania, Texas and California.

Reddy said that the new units are likely to be operational in August and September this year. They involve an investment of Rs 21 crore and generate employment to 3306 IT personnel and will achieve projected exports to the tune of Rs 1,831.85 crore in the next five years. "But, the notable thing here is that, not the import of capital goods is minimal and the units are not very particular about getting IT benefits," he said.
